GRETA ABENI
Greta Abeni is an Italian artist whose practice spans painting, drawing, and mural art. After a lifetime of drawing and painting, she began creating murals in recent years, working across canvas, paper, and walls. Through a traditional painting approach enriched by influences from contemporary illustration and animation, she explores stories that reflect the complexities of modern life.
Themes such as migration, cultural identity, the search for belonging, and appreciation for everyday moments are central to her work. Abeni’s paintings seek to give shape to the emotions and experiences shared by today’s generations.

“Duality explores the extremes of Finnish nature. In Summer, the sun barely sets, keeping light through the day and night. In winter, the opposite is true, as darkness stretches across most of the day. I wanted to use this contrast as a symbol not only for the Finnish seasons, but also for the human psyche. A single person can hold opposing qualities at once, mixed emotions or conflicting identities. The pigeons are a recurring symbol throughout my work. To me, they represent, among many things, the invisible connections through all of humanity. They exist alongside people across cultures and continents and through light and darkness”.
